Why I started the ‘Questions I Want to Ask Google’ series

For a long time, I felt like SEO content was too serious (no shade to anyone). Most of it felt very business-focused. I wanted to change that. Or at least try to change that by creating short-form video content.

I had already been making content on LinkedIn and on this website. But making video content wasn’t easy for me, especially when I tried to make it fun. To be fair, I have made long-form content on the channel, but that isn’t fun either lol. When I started thinking about making short videos, I got consumed with tons of negative self-doubt.

Things like:

  • “I don’t look my best.”
  • “I’m not an expert.”
  • “Why would anyone watch this?”

In April 2025, I finally thought: Darn it, let’s just post one video and see how it goes. On 10th April 2025, I uploaded my first skit. It was about “Should you chase trends like GEO or stick to basics?” It performed well for my first short video. After that, I experimented with different formats.

The idea for the “Questions I Want to Ask Google” series came later. I was inspired by the Career Ladder series by Max Klymenko.

I was brainstorming with ChatGPT when I realized that a lot of people ask the same questions to Google again and again.

Questions like:

  • “Do I need to hit a certain word count to rank?”
  • “Does Google take Domain Authority into account for rankings.”
  • “What is the optimum keyword density?”

That’s when “Questions I want to ask Google” was born.

The series features two characters: An overexcited SEO, and a sassy “Google” who loves deadpan humor.

The ‘overexcited SEO’ character is inspired by everyone who asks questions to Google. Shout out to the AMAZING Google representatives who answer these questions.

The character ‘Google’ is heavily inspired by Gary Illyes, an analyst on the Google Search team. I like how Gary is sassy and has a dry sense of humor. I wanted to bring that energy into the videos. Hopefully, it comes through.

The answers “Google” the character shares are based on statements from Google representatives and the official documentation.

At the time of writing, I have made four videos on the series. These include:

The videos in the series follow the same setup. It starts with the enthusiastic SEO asking a question and seeking advice. ‘Google’ gets slightly annoyed, then shares advice or answers the questions.

I’ve got more episodes planned for the series, along with other experimental videos for the Packted YouTube channel

P.S. If you want to suggest ideas for future episodes, send them my way.
